Swish Dreams 1st Annual Thanksgiving Family Skate and Canned Food Drive
I recently visited a place I haven’t been to in 19 years…the 87th street roller rink! Watching Joshua Mercer, the Swish Dreams CEO and his mother Insurance Agent Frances Wright share the floor for a backwards skate brought back great memories of skating with my mom at the rink some 20 years ago. I of course was a bit more graceful of a skater than Josh. No offense Josh.
While the young 30 year old entrepreneur needs a little practice on his backwards skate, he is definitely making significant strides in impacting Chicago Youth. This weekend Joshua Mercer, of Swish Dreams partnered with his mother Frances Wright to host the 1st annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Fathers, mothers, and grandparents brought their children out for a day of family fun. Children and young adults enjoyed face painting, skating and they event got to Dougie with the Swish Dreams CEO himself. During a time when Chicago Youth violence is at it’s peak, and the city has a growing negative reputation in the media, the Swish Dreams Foundation and other NFPs like it that promote fun, education, and family is exactly what Chicago needs. The Swish Dreams foundation teaches children and young adults about sports, finances, and other real world skills while also strengthening academic skills including math and literacy.
